Simrad TP20 or Raytheon ST2000+
hi
a search through google groups indicates that at least a few years ago Simrad autopilots were superior to Raytheon. the Simrad TP20 or Raytheon ST2000+ seem to be all that is available in my budget for my 28ft bilge keels sloop. has anyone who has had anything to do with both models found either to be better for their own circumstances or of better quality? cheers bruce |

Simrad TP20 or Raytheon ST2000+
Well,
I haven't used the tiller autopilots, but I have used (and do posess both raytheon and Simrad autopilots on my boat) both brands of pilots. On a brand for brand basis, I have liked the simrad system far more than the raymarine system. That is not to say that the Raymarine is bad, I have just had more problems with it, and it's not quite as sophisticated as the Simrad. That said, the newest raymarine system have improved their feature set markedly. As a boat designer I have specked several powerboats with their systems. On my sailboat though (46' custom) the Simrad has performed flawlessly for 5 years. "Jan" wrote in message ...
