IBM Thinkpad won't interpret signal incoming at com2...

A friend of mine is trying to test a brand new NETMIND Trawl Monitor
System but the IBM Thinkpad won't interpret incoming data thru rs-232
to USB2 adapter supposed to work on com2 . Any idea as to what should
be done so it would be testable with that Thinkpad ? Thanks a lot.

I have found that the software is looking for the data on com1 or 2 where the
serial to USB adapter is actually in com7 or 8. If you go to the device manager
and take a look to see where it is, you can reassign it to the proper com port
for your app.

Make sure the device sending serial data has the SAME speed (baud
rate), number of bits/byte (7 or 8) and stop bit (yes/no) as the
computer is looking for. Transmitting at 4800 baud while listening at
2400 baud, for instance, gives the experience you're observing.

It's in the MANUAL for the instruments and the software.....
