How to automatically send your gps position to a map server?

Loggin a trip and publishing it while you travel sounds like too good to be
true. It isn't. Listen.

See how Pieter uses a PDA to send his position over GRPS (very cheap, 1 ct
per waypoint) to the www.poi66.com map server:
http://andro.poi66.com

There are more possibilities such as electronic devices that could do the
same. Also manually punching in the coordinates into a text message will
work. More devices are listed he
http://www.poi66.com/maps/gps2sms
POI66 supports all possible text message (SMS) formats and many GPRS HTTP
formats from virtualy any logger.

To read some more on the details:

POI66 is a non-commercial map server that allows you to log any trip to a
Google Map, that is instantly updated. Friends and family can see that
you're safe and can download the trip to Google Earth too. By the way, we
don't spam you as you don't have to hand over email addresses and you can
subscribe using a code name. The only thing required is two text messages to
connect your phone to the server. One is for the user account and the other
is for creating an album to store waypoints into. Both text messages are at
normal charges without and extras. There is no subscripion fee of any other
cost, nor a extra charge on GPRS or SMS text messages.

I would say take a look at the web site and see the wealth of possibilities
do llog your trip. Even GPX files from GPS devices can be imported
afterwards.

POI66 - taking tracking and tracing to the cheapest level for leisure and
fun!

rest of spam snipped

Sorry the Technically savvy geeks who hang out here have just
blacklisted your site for spamming here. Whoever told you to advertise
on Usenet was an idiot. For every enquiry you get, you'll get 1000
who'll swear never to do business with you, 100 who'll bad mouth you at
every opportunity and 10 who'll actively annoy you by signing up your
email addresses for all sorts of spam, sexual products and services etc.

Good luck, you'll need it to stay off unemployment . . .
