Beneteau Keel Bolt Corrosion
I'm considering buying a 1986 Beneteau Idylle 13.5 and have heard that
corroding keel bolts can be a problem. Does anyone have any experiences they can share? Thanks! Tim |
Beneteau Keel Bolt Corrosion
If there's no water in the bilge and you coat the bolts with a
protectant, CRC corrosion protector, there shouldn't be a problem. We have a '91 and just brush the bolts clean and coat them every season. BTW, don't forget to check that all the bolts are torqued while the boat's on the hard. The torque specs can be obtained from Beneteau. Ours is 600 ft lbs so we just tighten them as tight as we can with a 3/4" breaker bar with a pipe extension.
