Bob On Saturday, went for a walk around part of Sydney harbOUr and the old dry dock carved out of the sandstone cliffs at Woolich. Took 4 years of pick and shovel. Now it is being converted into a yacht marina. Riggers were putting together a huge carbon fibre mast with carbon fibre rigging. I didn't know that they used it for rigging as well. Said that the mast was imported from good old New Zealand as they were better than those in Oz. The mast alone was AUD$750,000 - a bit out of my league. some heart rending prose snipped Peter Damn but you guys have it good. On Sunday I got up at 05:00. Made a cup of "Chinese coffee" and sat in the cockpit drinking it and watching it rain - Heavy Monsoon Rain! Had another cup. Now wired on caffeine decided to drive to town for provisions. Got my "going to town shorts and tee shirt" on, took the big umbrella out and hoofed it up to the parking lot. The truck won't start. Sat in the truck and watched it rain. Walked back to the boat and watched it rain. The rain abated somewhat so decided to try the truck again. Still won't start. Rain increases. Walked back to the boat. This sequence continued until about 16:00 when I said "to Hell with it!" and changed back into my grotty boating shorts. Being low on provisions had two thin ham & cheese sandwiches for supper and so to bed Damn, but you guys have it good! Bruce-in-Bangkok (correct Address is bpaige125atgmaildotcom) |
