Replacing original windows

Hello all,

What material do people recommend for replacing original factory
windows on a 30+ year old sailboat? Goal is to make them solid (not
sliding) for strength and safety. Somebody I know recently refitted
their 30 foot sailboat and used oversized Lexan, sealed and
through-bolted from the outside. What other recommendations do people
have?

Thanks,

Bob Whitaker

Replacing original windows

I an replacing mine with 9034 series lexan(uv enhanced for out door use).
Got a good price from Modern plastics 800-243-9696. They were the only
people who had it in stock and did small cuts.
they cut to size and a 25" square was $49.65. Hoyle quoted uv enhanced
acrylic for $275. I felt that the unbreakable aspect of the lexan
outweighed the ascetics of the acrylic. change the lexan every 3-4 years and
be money ahead. Btw...use lifeseal to bed the lexan and it will not leak.
