I must admit that I'm not a big fan of posting trip logs to r.b.c as if
everyone did it, the forum would be filled up with logs. A forum such as
r.b.c.logs would be appropriate...

I'm also not a big fan of e-mail logs, especially those where you can't
automatically enroll/dis-enroll. I tend to get too much e-mail and if I'm
busy, e-mails of this kind can get lost.

To solve these issues, a technology called RSS was developed which allows
your browser to watch "feeds" from web sites and only display the latest
content.

Since our cruising plans are currently in a holding pattern, I had time to
implement a RSS feed for my web logs. If you're interested in this
technology and/or subscribing to my feed, please visit:

Greg, the St Lawrence River loop/Down East Circle you describe under
"trip reports" is on my short list of trips I'd like to do with our
trawler. Maybe next year.

Have you considered stopping at Saint Pierre and Miquelon?

I'm actually hoping to make it to St. Pierre (we have our FR flag), but I'm
not betting on it. I try to take a conservative approach in the planning
and hope for good weather, no boat problems, etc. I must admit that
getting to Miquelon sounds a bit tenuous:

"The island of Miquelon is separated from St. Pierre by a 6 km (4 mi)
strait with very fierce currents. Fishermen call this section of ocean "The
Mouth of Hell". The waters around these islands are very treacherous, and
there have been over 600 shipwrecks along the coasts of the islands."

and I doubt that I'd try it without the perfect weather window.

Another thing Greg...if you're in the Halifax area before the 13th of July,
you may be able to join in on the Route Halifax-St. Pierre 2008 ocean race.

Geoff, what kind of cameras are you using for your underwater
photography? I assume you have one for movies and another for stills?

Have you had any experience with the inexpensive plastic bag camera
enclosures ?

Wayne,

You can find descriptions of the equipment at
http://www.geoffschultz.org/photo_web_tools.shtml

The underwater video was shot with an Olympus C-8080 DSLR in video mode
which generates a 640x480 pixel image at 15 FPS.

I must admit that I've only used hard body underwater housings.

Hey, I LIKE to see logs here! They sometimes generate schlock, but
usually spark better threads than some we see. Let's raise the
signal/noise level.
