Wires Thru Mast -- Easy

Two ways to run wires thru a uncluttered mast:

1. use bow and arrow -- need not be a good shot :)
2. use PVC pipe or correct ID and jointed the length of the mast with
wires already run in sections and shove thru.

I have tried both ways and prefer the piping -- bow and arrow too hard
to locate.

Forgot re electricians snake and attaching messenger line to whatever
you might use. Thanks for raising these considerations.

Construct mast cabling complete with a "messenger" cable. I use a
1/16" S/S cable with the wires clamped every 2'-'3' with nylon
ty-wraps.

Once saw some of the Moorings guys suck a messenger line through a mast laid
out on the dock using a shopvac. As I remember they had something light
attached to the end of the line for the vacuum to "get hold of"- worked a
treat.

If it's a deck stepped mast laid out on the dock, then one of the
shrouds makes an excellent makeshift fish tape -- just the right
length and stiffness.

To reduce the slapping of the harness when the boat rolled, I once used a
shop-vac to blow styrofoam peanuts into a mast. It did the job.
