An excellent TV documentary from Canadian Broadcasting has been posted to
alt.binaries.multimedia.documentaries every sailor should watch.....It's 45
minutes long, with no spam, of course..

080123.cbc.wild.docs.rogue.waves.640x464.xvid.mp3. festering.leper.avi

in multipart RAR files with PAR correction files, if necessary.

It's file set all begins with "festering leper" from the list.

If you need help downloading/decoding it let's do it on this thread so
others may learn, too.

Fantastic research is going on as these massive waves are far more numerous
than ever thought!

Two ocean liners rounding South America were hit by rogue waves very
closely. So, the researchers turned the radar satellite on the area and
found TEN rogue waves in ONE DAY!

They also pose the question, is this what causes the sinking rates without
a trace in the Bermuda Triangle...also a hotbed of rogue wave activity!

Until very very recently, mariners never said they were hit by a rogue wave
for fear of being labeled crazy or some stupid, superstitious nonsense.
Now, reports are coming in from all over the globe!

While I was watching it, I thought back to all those hours in moderately
low seas I've sat staring at the radar scope, alone in the cockpit.....What
if....??

Now those are the words of a prepared mariner!

Sinking rates in the Bermuda Triangle are no higher than for any other
area of the ocean; the number of sinking's may be high, but so is the
traffic. Lloyd's doesn't make you buy special insurance to sail there.

The Great Lakes have more wrecks per square mile than the Bermuda
triangle, but one doesn't hear much in the way of super natural nonsense
being espoused about them.

Cheers
Marty

There's a world chart of areas of more intensive rogue waves. Bermuda
Triangle is one of them. That would explain the large number of ship
sinkings for no reason, disappearing without a trace.

It's bad for the folklore business, though.

Lots of rogue waves, like the one that got Edmund Fitzgerald.
