Looking to build folding sawhorses

Looking to build folding sawhorses

I need about four sawhorses to lay my sailboat mast (50') horizontally while
I am doing the preparation work in the spring.

Ideally, I should be able to transport these four sawhorses in the trunk of
my car from my house to the yacht club. Then bring them back home and store
them for the rest of the season.

So far, I have not been able to come up with a design that is foldable,
strong, and easy to use and store.

Any suggestion will be appreciated.

TIA

Denis

Buy premade steel sawhorse brackets. You don't fasten the two by fours
The weight holds things together. Cheap.

That's what I have...two saw horses that consist of two metal pieces
(for each saw horse..total of 4 for two horses) into which 2 x 4 "legs"
and a 2-4 cross member, all cut to length to achieve the desired
height and width of the saw horse, are inserted and clamped. To store
or transport, take 'em apart...remove the legs and cross member and
stack 'em. In fact, mine are stored on the top shelf in my garage store
room now, so they'll fit in the trunk of any car. Assembled, they're
definitely strong enough to support a mast. I got the brackets and the
2 x 4s at Home Depot.

Local canadian tire store has been selling plastic sawhorses for a number of
years.
They have two versions...I have the better 'Made in Israel' version but they
sell a cheaper 'Jobmate' copy.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions. I appreciate the information. I
have a fair amount of 4/4 and 8/4 eastern white pine in my garage. At this
time, it is not too comfortable to work in my garage workshop because of the
cold Canadian winter. This will give me time to look around for the plastic
folding sawhorses.
