Since the brain damaged Bahamian government rocketed the entry fee to
$300 for any boat over 35 feet, many, maybe even most, U.S. visitors
have boycotted. While it is the case that the entry fee is valid for
one year for 4 people and re-entry can be made within 90 days, the fee
must be more damaging to that nation's businesses -- marinas, fuel
suppliers, boat yards, restaurants, and others -- than to cruisers.

I have cruised extensively in Bahamian waters over the past 14 years,
since moving from the frigid north to near usually warm Ft.
Lauderdale, enjoying the waters and most of the people. Now, however,
I am limiting my cruising to the Florida keys, both ocean side and in
the ICW Intracoastal Waterway).

I would encourage anyone who is so much as contemplating a cruise to
Bahamian waters to send a note re the outrageous fee now being charged

Maybe, just maybe, the Bahamian decision makers will see a pinhole of
light in the sky and reverse their absurd action.
