A friend and I are thinking of investing in the Dr. Shrink kit and shrink wrapping our Pearson 422's ourselves. (We have both been quoted $800 for the job at our two yards. It seems that we can do it for MUCH less than that ourselves.) I've seen demos and watched them do it at the yard and it doesn't seem to be "rocket science". One question I have is how to reach up to the top of the ridge pole with the heater at the beamy part of the boat? Does anybody have recommendations for/against?? Derek It sure doesn't look like rocket science. First idea I had was to tape the heater to a boat hook to reach the high spots. A ladder or stepladder might do as well. Just don't bring the plastic snug against any painted surfaces or you'll have pitted paint in the spring. The plastic traps humidity in the paint and the paint blisters -- even Awlgrip and similar. -- Jere Lull Xan-a-Deux ('73 Tanzer 28 #4 out of Tolchester, MD) Xan's Pages: http://members.dca.net/jerelull/X-Main.html Our BVI FAQs (290+ pics) http://homepage.mac.com/jerelull/BVI/ |
