Yes, but in September 1996, on our way to the Pacific Nations Arts Festival
at Apia.

One of the most idyllic weeks of our lives. Swimming with the ten foot
manta, all the sharks, picnics on the beach most nights, the fire dancing
acrobats.

I'm afraid I don't have any memory of Alvei -- (and of course, all of us
remember boat names better than people names). IIRC, Mike from St. Jude was
there -- he gave us a coral trout that we fixed for a picnic -- we threw the
head in the water with a line on it and had ten small black-tips fighting
over it in seconds. I don't think Mike from Kinsa was there, and I don't
remember other Mikes. Sorry.

And, I'm off to the METS trade show in Amsterdam in a couple of hours, and
then to see how Fintry is coming, so I won't see any reply to this until
next Tuesday.

I knew I remembered but had it partially wrong. You were one year ahead and
I think had gone to NZ for the winter of 96 and 97. I saw your entry in
Maragaret's visitors book. You were looking for crew at the time from NZ if
I recall right. I ended up on Alvei, then Victory a boat out of FL and
finally a 28' cutter down to Russell. Then back to the US and bought my own
boat.
