Default Antique (steam-powered?) powerboats of the 1890s?

Hi -

Does anyone know a good resource on power racing boats of the 1890s?
Steam-powered boats and the like?

We have some photographs of some interesting vessels - such as
http://jsjohnston.org/~javelin.html - which we'd like to learn more
about... any thoughts on what the "Javelin" was, for instance?

Also - does anyone know who held the powerboat speed records during
the late 1800s?

Thanks!

Also check out the "Norwood" - http://jsjohnston.org/~norwood.html -
"Doing a Mile in 2.12½"

Presumably that's 2 minutes and 12.5 seconds, or about 27mph.

The date of the photo was Nov. 6, 1891.

Any ideas what the Norwood was? What were the details of this apparent
record?

Thanks for any help -
C
