Nesting Dinghy clamps

I bought some SS pull type clamps for my homebuilt nesting Two-Paw-9
nesting dinghy.
The original design called for bolts to hold the two halves together.
I would sit in the rear half in the water and insert the bolts while
water streamed through the holes.
These clamps will attach to the outside and will pull the halves
together.
Unfortunately, the part the clamp pulls on is too "high" so that when
it is installed the halves dont "nest".
SO, I built the damned boat, I'll modify it as I like. I plan to
recess the clamps by cutting holes for them and fastening them to
glassed wood pieces epoxied to the inside with everything sealed with
epoxy. I'll take some pics when it is done.

Thanks for telling us not to buy a Two-Paw-9 dinghy!
