You could be right. Doug hasn't posted for quite a while. Suddenly just dropped out of the
newsgroups.

They were hinting something like that over in alt.sailing.asa the other day. I didn't make the
connection til just now when I read your post. Katy posted something that sounds like she might
know something about DSK dying probably of cancer.

This is what Katy posted after Mundo posted about a friend of his dying of cancer.

BY any chance, was the person you visited a poster on this group?

It was in a thread called "Hey Mundo."

I think Katy might know something about it.

Doug King is fine and healthy and has not died, nor does he have
cancer.

Doug "DSK" King who just built the hi-tech dinghy?

DSK was prolific on here for many years and suddenly stopped posting a
month or two ago.

I've been looking forward to some test reports on the dinghy.

Doug worked with asbestos covered pipes for a number of years in the Navy
and then in the Merchant Marines. He was always concerned about getting
cancer and even bought his trawler to minimize cancer risk. He drops off the
usenet abruptly, with no explanation and then they are talking about a
regular asa'er having cancer who lives in the same area as Doug. I hope the
suspicions and rumors are wrong and that Doug has won the lottery and is in
Brasilia.

Supposedly carbon fiber dust is just about as bad, one of the reasons
I stopped working with it.

I hope he's OK. It's sad when people get diseases when it's not even their own fault.
Getting cancer from smoking cigarettes is stupid and something you coulda avoided. But
many years ago people didn't even realize asbestos was so bad for your lungs. Sad that
it takes so many years to turn into cancer. But, there's worse stuff. Stuff that causes
damage right away. Stuff like illegal drug abuse...
Asbestos and carbon fibers aren't as bad as an overdose of LSD.
There's somebody else here you all know who took massive doses of LSD when he was
younger. Not to mention just about every other get-high kinda drug known to man. It didn't
give him cancer but it ruined his brain. You can tell it by the way he acts. I'm not going to
say who it is because it might damage his reputation but I'll just post links to what he
wrote: http://tinyurl.com/ya93xt and http://tinyurl.com/yex65q
