The end of bottom painting? Experience with "Boat Hull Shield"? ChlorFree?
Setting aside the ChlorFree- Aqua-Smart Hull "ionization" systems;
1) what about experiences (Pros & Cons) with Boat Hull Shields? They appear innovative & simple to protect a hull & its motor, prop, centerboard, etc. Any sucessfull installations on East Coast-- or mostly in San Diego, Calif., & on lakes?? We'd like to see some & talk with satisfied users! Also: 2) any technical Pros/ Cons the ChlorFree "ionization" system? Would the amounts & fate of the Cu++ ions added to the water circulating around the hull be much different than std. copper hard paint (ex-Trinidad) that lasts at least 2 years? Any comments affects on sealife- esp. oysters, clams, benthic critters, etc? Good sailing, John & Cindy R. How do you remove the boat from the enclosure without releasing the
chemical? Haul it out with slings? From the photos, I don't see any other way, and releasing the chemical every time the boat is taken out doesn't seem practical or environmentally friendly.
