longevity of aluminum
I'm in the market for an aluminum boat, and have a line on a 1979
Seasport Islander. The boat has some nice amenities, like a new 150 hp motor, top, and some electronics, but the age of the hull worries me a bit. It has been used in the salt for the most part and was trailered, but my real question is this; is an aluminum boat that has been fairly well treated worth looking at if it is 23 years old? I really don't want something unsafe. Comments? |

I really don't want something unsafe. Comments? It's simple, just have it surveyed by some one very familiar with aluminum boats. Capt. Bill |
