Like baking soda, but twice the power.

Epoxy on teak - How to apply?

Its sort of like baking soda but is much stronger and has a high pH.
You should wear gloves, make sure it doesn't sit for too long, that
is, rinse pretty quickly. The instructions say not to use on
fiberglass or aluminum, but I never saw a problem. Old teak turns
golden with just a light scrub, and them you hose it off.

Washing Soda works surprising well - once I discovered that I never
used another product on unfinished teak. A little light scrubbing
(and I really mean just a little) and the teak turns golden brown.

Of course, then I saw the light and bought a boat with no exterior wood!

You can also buy soda ash from a pool supply store, used to increase
the ph of pool water.
Both are sodium carbonate. Baking soda is sodium bicarbonate.
