I want to insulate my forward berth. What's the best insulation?
 

Here's advice from someone with zero experience of this cho
the best insulation is waterproof, I'd think.
And when it comes to closed cell foam, I see no problem with
white insulating board, maybe with a foil backing.
Score it if necessary to get the curve you need. and glue in place.
What could be the problem with this?

You can get 4x8 boards of this stuff at Home Depot. I use some that has a
foam core, foil on one side and white vinyl on the other to insulate the
windows in my pilothouse when I'm not underway. Foil faces out. In summer
the inside surface temp of the glass is about 135 degrees without the
insulation, about 85 with. My electric bill went from over $100/month to
about $35.

single best product that I used when living aboard was a aluminum foil/mylar
bubble wrap product called reflectix. It made winters aboard in Toronto
more than bearable!
