TSA and inflatabel PFD?

Anyone flown with an inflatable PFD since the new anti-shampoo rules went
into effect? Federal regulations and DOT policy allow 2 gas cylinders
attached to PFDs and 2 spares. The TSA site was changed to say that in June
but it is not listed as an exception anymore.

Anyone had their PDF neutered?

Each airline sets their own policy on those.... they can allow them or
reject them. Call ahead.

TSA and inflatabel PFD?

First of all, each airline sets its own policy. However, back in
February, 2006, the TSA in Miami Fl detected my inflatable's gas
cartridge, checked their rule books and informed me that it was a
prohibited item. I had to check a bag with my inflatable and my
wife's. This happened after having carried inflatables on-board
several times. I always camoflaged them with as much other
recognizeable stuff as possible--batteries, laptop ac adapters,
cameras, etc. Maybe the TSA did not see the cartridges or maybe they
just ignored them or maybe they thought the cartridges were
permitted--I don't know. At any rate, the DID prohibit them in Miami
in Feb.

Well then they made a common mistake back then. In late march TSA changed
the rule to comply with 49CFR175 exception 25 that clearly states 2
cartridges attached to PFDs and 2 spares in checked or carry on. They even
changed their web site to show it. However, when they added liquids to the
banned items they deleted the PFD item from the exceptions. I am wondering
if it was deliberate or just another TSA screwup.

Or maybe they recognise that there IS one of these, under EACH seat
onboard every airliner that flies over water, anywhere on it's route,
as REQUIRED by the FAA in the USA.

Not until it stops producing votes for administrations that otherwise
would have to get them by developing policies that address the real
problems facing us.

The anti-shampoo rules should have nothing to do with PFDs unless you
insist on taking the PFD aboard as carry-on luggage. Rule changes
about gas cylinders in checked luggage would apply.

I like that. Kinda figured those people were just waiting for the good jobs
at the food concessions to open up!

One would think so but logic seems to have little to do with TSA policy.
