Fresh water filtration
A short time back there was a discussion on the nastys that live in fresh
water. I have crews living and working in the Sudan, one of the most disease ridden, nasty little critter infested places in the world. The crews use Aqua Sun filtration systems to provide clean water for drinking, cooking, dish and food washing, and personal hygiene. These systems run about $1700 (with spares), produce 60 gallons per hour and run on either 12v or the optional solar panel and are mounted in a pelican type case roughly the size of a small suitcase. They do not work for salt water, but the discussion mentioned above got me thinking about you freshwater sailors and how convenient it would be to make your own at roughly half the price of a desalinating (sp?) water maker and about 20 times the output. I'm not affiliated with the company, just thought I'd pass the idea along. www.firs****erinc.com/responder.html MMC |
