So much for the protecting the environment argument. Those guys came
down to Georgia back in the '80's. Screwed up a few thousand acres of
virgin salt marsh and didn't find enough gas to make a decent fart.

Just wait until Kerr-McGee finds out that each and every thing they
bring to Bahamas that floats: tugs, drilling rigs, crew ferry vessels,
moring balls, etc. etc. etc. ... will incur a $300 fee !!!!!

wow....... never thought about that.
whats even weird is that the actual agrement was signed on June 26th
(kerr web site reports) not July 23rd as stated , 5 days later with a weekend
in there they raised their save the enviroment fees. I wonder whats up?

Wanna bet against their being exempted under some provision?

Hold it! Look again: "Kerr McGee Bahamas Limited". As "Bahamians", they
wouldn't be subject to the tax.

The Great Bahama Bank is very shallow. Where are they going that the
water is 3K to 6K deep?

is over 1000 meters right next to many of the banks. Just north of Nassau it goes to 3600
meters. I wonder if they drill at an angle, so they get to oil that's under the banks?

But if the water is deep, they aren't on the Banks anymore - they are
in the Tongue of the Ocean or the Northwest Providence Channel or the
Straits of Florida.

So you put the rig in 100' of water, then directionally drill right down the
inside of the slope to get to the oil at 15,000'. Easier to keep the rig in
place.
