Diesel Tachometer

I have missplaced and am unable to find the link to the small self contained
tach that senses the injector pulse. It has been discussed here in the past.
Thanks - Allen

My tach is broke and this looks like a decent solution.

But how do they work and, more to the point, would the diesel model work
on a little (13hp) old Volvo, MD7A?????

The transducer clutching onto an injection line feels the fuel pulses from
the injection pump pinging the line. The transducer pulses the display
unit, which calculates RPM from your input of how many cylinders the engine
is and 2 or 4 strokes. It also has a lifetime hour meter and a resettable
maintenance hourmeter that only run when the engine is running. You can
leave the little meter running continuously as it uses no more power than a
quartz clock, one battery per year. The transducer is separately powered
off the engine DC (actually any DC from 9 to 50VDC is fine. It uses no
current to speak of.) It's just a calculating pulse counter. Put your ear
directly up to an injection line between the pump and the injectors. You
can hear the pings it's counting. If you REALLY want to hear the pings,
just loosen up the dampers, those weights clamped around the lines together
to dampen the sound. Diesel injection makes a helluva pinging sound
without them...(c;

Any diesel from 1 cyl to 16 works on this meter....Just set the parameters
for your engine.... 1 cyl, 4 stroker.

OK and thanks. I'll probably give it a go.
