Dealings with Foley Engines?

Has anyone had a bad experience with these folks after buying a major
item, like a transmission? I had a strange call today with "Dr.
Diesel" (maybe he just had an off day; maybe he's just rude) and would
like some reassurance before I call them again. I don't understand how
anyone could think a customer many miles away would send them thousands
of dollars if they are treated like crap on the phone.

They're at www.foleyengines.com or .

thanks,
Dave

Dave,

Over the years I have bought numerous parts and supplies from Foley Engine.
$2.00 to $2,000.00. They are rude, curt and totally lacking any social
graces. That said, they have always delivered exactly what I ordered very
promptly.

I don't know where you are but I have also dealt with Engines 1 in Virginia
and Torresen Marine in Michigan. They are both excellent. I think Torresen
is the Best.

Dr. Diesel doesn't respond via email.. at least not so far. They claim to
have 24/7 email coverage.

I blew up a Perkins 4-107 a couple of years ago. Speaking to that guy
turned me right off.

FWIW my marina also steered me away from one of the Foley rebuilt
engines, they had two of them disintegrate too soon over the years.

Still, they manage to stay in business.

YMMV
