Has anyone ever sailed out of Rocky Point on the Sea of Cortez between
the Baja penninsula and mainland Mexico? I have a Mac 19 we're planning to trailer there, but I'm a bit nervous about finding a marina or ramp to launch the boat, going across the border, finding a suitable hotel and other possible problems with the trip. We can always sleep on the boat as a last resort but would rather not. thanks, A.W. |

![]() You may be better off posting this type of thread over at this web site: http://macgregorsailors.com/phpBB/ It's a *moderated* forum with 1231 registered users most of which are Mac owners. And yeh... there is a bunch in there that do the Sea of Cortez gig... who will be able to bring you up to speed... so to speak. Best regards Bill 2004 Mac 26M Honda 50 |

![]() Hi: Are you talking about a place located at the northern most part of the SoC by a town called Puerto Penasco? If so...... I took a 15' sailing dory there one spring and did the sail beach camp thing for about a month in 1983. There was some gringo named Roho (Red) who had a "marina" of sorts. Nice guy willing to share a drink. The bay is shallow 1-2 miles wide with lots of tide. It'll leave you miles from the water when the tide is out. HOw do you get your boat in the water? The locals had motorized contraptions that looked like travel lifts that carried boats down to water deep enough to float. Trailers will not work there. A real sight! Do some research. Most likle things have changed in 20 years. But I think the tides are the same.... Sprit Sailed Bob |
