Help with Atomic 4

It's an Atomic 4 with gas motor

When the ignition switch it one, the fuel pumps runs
Once the motor starts, the fuel pump no longer runs

This is the second new fuel pump and a new filter

Does anyone know what might be going on here?

Thank for any help

Suggest you send your question to the Atomic 4 list

You need to join the list first -- it's free at Sailnet.com

Another Yahoo list also requires joining -- can't recall the address,
but look in Yahoo groups. God bunch of people in both lists

Sounds like an ignition switch problem. Does the pump get 12v when in
the run position?

Will it continue if you put a jumper to 12v directly?

Help with Atomic 4

With an electric fuel pump there is 'usually' a safety circuit attached
to the oil pressure switch. When the oil pressure switch sends a
signal of low oil pressure the switch is closed and the ignition
circuit is 'out' of the circuit --- shuts off the fuel supply..
To check to see if the oil pressure switch is operating or not, (as the
other poster also added) make a direct temporary 'jumper' cable from
the Batt. to the feed for the electric fuel pump and see if this doesnt
remedy the matter; if so, then correct the fault in the oil pressure
switch (replace) or its wiring.

Yes, it works without problems when straight wired to a battery.

Thanks, now we know how to fix this.

And thanks again,
