I am looking at digital sailing watches that include a barometer. I
would appreciate any comments. feedback and suggestions.

I don't know first hand about a watch with a barometer but I do know
that they are a bit sensitive. I admit that would be really cool to
have but i would still keep my bulkhead mounted one and trust it more.

hi jack,

there is a inexpensive (less than 200$us) casio watch called the
"pathfinder" that does this. i think the watch comes in a few
different designs, some of which even have a digital compass in them.

and of course there are much more expensive ones than casio too ..

Casio FTS1003...$45...at wris****ch.com, the more expensive
models can measure water depth as well (down to 300ft I think).
and have digital compasses.

That's unreal cool. Do they work?

Suunto also makes barometer watches.

Don't know yet, I just ordered it....for $45 it's worth a try, it takes
measurements every 2 hours (apparently it puts a drain on the
battery), so only done in the background every 2 hrs, done continuesly
when in bar mode. Whats nice is you can check past readings at anytime
to see if its rising/falling. You can download the user manual, check
it out.
Timex has one too I thought but I never found it
I have the Weems & Plath (sp?) combo bar/temp/humidty gauge, but I'm
less than impress with it. When I had it on the boat (in high humidity)
it was
reading temp 15+ degs too high. You can adjust the bar but not the temp
or humidity gauges. Back at home its back to normal.
Another good and inexpensive toy to have is a outdoor/indoor wireless
thermometer,
other than the obvious use, I put the outdoor thermo in the reefer, I
can monitor
temp without opening it up. I just run the reefer when I run the engine
or when
I need to (DC holding plate). Amps are precious on a small boat.

I sort of thought it would be much to strap something like that to your
wrist. You have to adjust everything just from wave bumping, I can't
imagine having good readings from something moving like your arm -

Let us know when you get your and how it works. it sounds like a toy
that is still worth having at that price.

Around 1994 I took a Casio barometer watch to Nepal where I was hiking. The
altimeter and barometer worked very well up to the stated maximum altitude
of 15,000 feet. That watch had no graphing capability, fairly simple.
Battery lasted 2 years I think.

Suunto, and even the Casio's are pretty bulky. I'm not real keen on
having a gigantic wrist watch. I'm going for a bulkhead mounted
digital barometer, which also does a bunch of other weather functions
for about $100, and keep the watches small and waterproof.
