Fiberglass

Hi,

What causes fiberglass to age...might be the wrong choice of words.... We
were looking at a 1960's Cheoy Lee 30 footer and saw lines in the
hull...some were inline with internal frames and some more radial. Is this
a sign of a boat that needs to be "put to rest" or a simple repair? We are
guessing the boat is polyester base. It has been stored under a shed for 20
years on blocks. The port side has been exposed to some sunlight daily with
areas where paint is thin.

thanks

Gel coat flexes differently than the fiberglass laminate. A few small
hairline cracks is not a sign of anything serious.

A good surveyor knows the difference between cosmetics and structural
defects.
