I would like a recommendation for a sailing school in the BVI--one
capable of training me to bareboat charter in the Carribean. Thanks

How much sailing experience do you have? Any time on keel boats? It
doesn't take a lot of skill to charter in the BVI. The most cost effective
way is to do a charter with a hired skipper/instructor. It will cost you
about $200/day over the base bareboat charter and you get individual
instruction. The ASA bareboat certificates mean nothing to most of the
charter companies. Demonstrated skill and prior experience are what they
are looking for.

Otherwise the Colgate's Offshore Sailing School has a base on Tortola and
there are a couple of other smaller operations.

Give Richard Stalfard an email or visit his website at
http://1cyc.com/sy/labeyoseph/ . He is based out of the Tortola, BVI

We did an 8 day cruise and learn with him and had a good time.
