mighty budget cruisers,.. when/how do you dump your auto insurance?

I know, it's pathetic but I'd like to pocket the $65usd I'm paying
monthly for auto insurance. I hope to be gone 2 years at least. What
do people usually do about this? I live in a nanny nation where you
have to have insurance to drive but when I cast off I shall leave them
behind to shift for themselves. I have 2 vehicles on Safeco now with
one claim in 12 years. Thanks.

I had two cars when I left for a one year trip. The older van I gave
to my father-in-law so if he had an accident (likely since he was 80
at the time) it wouldn't be in my name. In 6 months he totaled it.
The newer Jeep I loaned to my brother so he'd have a spare car. The
very first time his son drove it (to go to the train station parking
lot a mile away) he backed into a truck doing $2000 damage.

My advice: Give the cars away. If they're nice, store them, and
suspend the insurance.
