SCA: How critical is speed for safety at sea?

SCA: In order of importance, what features or characteristics would
be present in a small (25-feet or under) sailboat of your own design
that you would willingly take off-shore?

SCA: Are large sailboats inherently safer in ways that simply cannot
be addressed within the limitations imposed by the waterline length of
a smaller boat?

SCA: What are the most common shortcomings in modern, production
trailerables in terms of safety and/or seaworthiness?

SCA: What modifications would you suggest the average trailer sailor
make to his production boat to enhance its ability to handle
reasonably heavy weather?

SCA: What did you learn from your experiences in heavy weather in
small sailboats, regarding the characteristics most important for
safety and survival?
