Gresham's Law

Gresham's Law which says that bad money drivers out good is not confined
to money. Consider the LifeSling, or rather, the LifeSling plasticized
fabric container.

The first one we bought came with all mechanical fasteners, bnoth for
closing it, holding the back flap in place and for securing it to the
stanchions. The scond one we bought after the firest weathered beyond
sightliness still had mechanical fasterend to secure it to the stanchions
but all other closures used ony Velcro. The Velcor went to pieces and the
thing weathered very badly. The latest one we bought has no mechanical
fasteners at all, only Velcro straps, including the straps that secure it
to the stanchion. It will last about two years.

Also, the illustrations on the container that show you how to deploy the
LifeSling originally showed a woman on the boat hauling a MAN overboard
back into the boat. The latest illustrations have andorgynous figures.
Gotta be politically correct.

Have you noticed that most people hang the containers outside of
the rail and if you want to read the instructions, they are on
the outside of the boat. In the case of my boat, the container
is mounted on the inside of the rail and showing the
instructions, eats up a little of the cockpit space.

How's 'at? The container is designed to hang outside the rail and the
instructions are on the Velcro secured flap inside the rail that covers
the mounting straps.

I wish mine was that way, but is a soft case and the
instructions are on the front.
