Sail slide lube

Why cant I drop my main or reef it without pointing straight into th
wwind? Its cuz the sail slides jam in the slide slot on the mast when
there is any sideways tension on them. The lack of lubrication also
makes it hard to hoist the main. Some of this is due to poor design of
the slides themselves but the lack of lubrication might be remedied.
There are products out there to lube the slide but NONE of them work
for long in the Florida heat and rain. So...........

I decided to post this without seeing if it is patentable cuz I simply
dont have time to deal with it.

Make a little lube reservoir and dispenser that rubs against the sail
slide slot walls applying lube. This would attach to the sail
headboard so that every time you hoisted your sail the felt-like
dispenser would rub the slot walls applying lube. I think that even
the reservoir could fit in the slot but maybe it could be on the
headboard.

Ohhh, what a mess. Lubricant all over the place. Teflon slides would be
better. Clean the slot and apply some dry lube (exactly which may be
religion) best.

Also, make sure you have the right slugs. If they're too small, they can
jam.

I did think about lubricant going all over. I have never seen teflon
slides and so assumed it is because teflon has poor wear properties.
If they exist, I'd like to find them so I will look. I was not sure
but decided that better fitting slugs would be better than smaller
ones.
