I just replaced the top gear unit on my right 1984 OMC out drive, now
when I turn the steering wheel my two outdrives move in opposite directions. Is there a left drive and a right drive and if I replaced a right drive with a left drive would this cause this problem? |

If you are only talking about direction of the outdrive when steered and NOT about prop direction, then the upper outer is not the problem. The hook-up of the steering cables went seriously adrift, is all. Brian Whatcott Altus, OK. |

Sorry wrong the steering was never touched just the out drives. I got
the answer from a Dealer the Stringer drives have counter worm gears for steering twins and my mechanic screwed up by replacing a right drive with a left drive. If that's how this one works, I stand corrected! Or did the mechanic replace the whole right hand drive except the lower outer unit? Brian W |
