Name that place quiz #3

Here's another. This should be easy for some people, so give others a
chance.

my guess as well.

And you're both correct. I've always taken a mooring at the yacht
club behind the breakwater, but perhaps other can describe the
anchorages behind Sandy Hook.

I've always enjoyed anchoring in Horshoe Cove, which is about half way
down the peninsula. Good holding and deep water. But not to be used
during strong westerlies. Convenient access to the old artillery
bunkers from WWII.

The chart shows a spit of land at the upper end of the shallow cove.
It has been submerged for many years now, but is still there. Use your
depth sounder and approach slowly below the middle of the cove.

There may be a white and orange state marker near the end of the
former spit. The cove is a pleasont place to anchor on a summer night,
but can get crowded on Saturday night. Shallow draft boats go closer
to the beach. Some of the motor boats are likely to leave in the
evening, but if they are on the beach that doesn't help the crowding
for sailboats.
