Time sensitive alternator question.

I just took a chance and picked up what looks to be a new or
completely reconditioned Hitachi LR155-20B alternator at a boat show
flea market for $100. I can take it back if I can determine before
Sunday night if it isn't suitable.

The larger alternator option for the Yamaha 2QM engine I have is a
LR155-04. Does anyone know the significance of the numbers after the
dash or if this alternator can be used? I've been googling around on
the internet and can't find anything.

It also has a Yanmar part number on it: 129772 77200 but I can't find
anything definitive on that either.

Hi Roger
I bought a spare alternator a couple of years ago from go2marine that
had the 129772 number. Go there and you might get more info.
