Would some of you knowledgable folks please share your experiences
with the various makes and models of marine transmissions?

Which ones to avoid and which are the best for moderate power - say
100HP and under.

Thanks

Hey, Leo--

I've run Hurth transmissions on a Westsail 32. They didn't seem overly
robust, and probably should ALWAYS have a cooler attached. (Learned the
hard way about that, burning one just about completely UP.) Our present
boat, a Lord Nelson Victory Tug, sports a Borg Warner behind the 150
Cummins turbo. Don't have a huge amount of experience with it yet, but
the boat's 20 years old and the BW's are reputed to be bombproof.

Not a whole lot of info here, but hope it helps a bit.

I am also interested in finding or leaning about any new (or used) V drives
suitable for under 100 HP. Ratio in the neighborhood of 1.2:1.

Thanks,
Mel
