Make sure you have an up to date chart. The sand bars do shift, often
after storms.

Thanks to all the replies.
skunker, I had seen your site from a goggle search.
Nice and informative.
My draft is going to be easy, now.
I was going to take my 25ft Searunner Trimaran, but wife has decided for
this year I will be taking the Hobie16.
She's afraid the pickup will not make the trip (I have to agree with her).
So, we take the Hobie and camp most of the time.
Plan to hit regular campgrounds about every 3rd night (momma want a shower,
I don't, I figure if the sharks can smell me I won't have to worry) :-0
Any good primitive camp spots on the bay side? Would like to be able to see
the Hobie, when not out sailing.
Would like to stay in the bay, as I'm new with the Hobie.
And momma will only go out in protected water.
We had a 35ft Piver, years ago. North of Chicago, a tornado got us.
Needless to say it was not fun, being rescued by the Coast Guard, but thank
god they were there.
So, now you see why momma wants protected water, at least until she can get
over her fear of sailing again (if she ever can).
I figure the Hobie will be a gentle reintroduction, to sailing for her.
Finally, who in Padre can help me figure out how to sail this dang thing?
My Searunner, no problems, but this Hobie is weird, or just different
anyhow.
I'm also going to see how my kites do pulling the Hobie around.
Should be great downwind.
If your down around Padre and see a rookie making a jackass of himself, say
"hi".
