BioDiesel Question.
Anyone here have experience using biodiesel in their boats? A buddy of mine and I were looking at a
biodiesel powered car and wondered if it could be used in his sailboat that has a Volvo diesel in it. Just curious... |
It has been (is being) done. A bit expensive and the exhaust
smells like french fries of poping popcorn. Doug s/v CAllista "Richard P." wrote in message news:fxKDd.6790$Xk.6253@pd7tw3no... Anyone here have experience using biodiesel in their boats? The only thing I've read is that some older diesels have seals that are incompatible with the bio, also, it is used as a mixture, say 20% biodiesel, similar to ethanol/gasoline mixtures. Thanks for the replies. A blended set up is probably the way he is thinking of going. Another
consideration is the compatibility of his diesel fueled stove to see if there is any conflicts with combustion, etc. "John Cairns" wrote: The only thing I've read is that some older diesels have seals that are incompatible with the bio, also, it is used as a mixture, say 20% biodiesel, similar to ethanol/gasoline mixtures. |
