The difference is
1- fish excrement is going to be there anyway. Yours is an additional
load on the local ecosystem.

2- the intestinal flora of species are mostly unique.

3- the disease potential... for humans... of human waste is much higher.
For example, fish & whales don't carry cholera...

Is that light bulb starting to get a dim glow yet? I doubt it, most
people will strenuously resist letting facts displace their prejudices.

They are nutrients for many things including fish and bacteria, just
like the feces of all other organisms. There is nothing specifically
'evil' about human feces that make them more dangerous or less
beneficial than other animal feces.

The problem is not with human feces. They become a problem only when
dropped in huge concentrations, such as when seaside sewage systems
discharge into the seas or when large vessels pump out their holding
tanks all at once, creating large plumes of black water. Small boats
discharging after each use, especially when the feces have been
treated through chlorination or lectrasan do nothing but add nutrients
to the water since the properly set up sanitary system should destroy
bacteria.

Same as all other feces are food for. Algae, Zooplankton and fish
eat all the bacteria, which starve and decompose in water. It's
only those from sickies that matter.

How many diarrhetics stay at anchor off of your favorite beach? How
often do 400 kids all go the the hospital the same day with the same
infections?

It only happens down town. It's not caused by private pleasure
boats. It's caused by outfall overflows after rains on the intide.
It was common when I was a kid. Now, they close the beaches, and
blame the sailors. Go figure.

Or, maybe at marinas, or big stagnant anchorages with no pump out
barge or other pump out facilities there could be a problem if every
boat was occupied and dumped all the time. Now, you gotta add to the
chlorine burden on the economy with an expensive electronic biddle?
Does increasing chlorine without adding sodium speed up the melting
of fresh ice on salt water? It would probably increase the
conductivity of water and consumption of zinc sacrafices.

But not at any scale possible for we boaters.

An air blown tank, with waterline screw nipple would do if used
legally. As a benefit of rigging an air purge system, an air
blowable tank could be force ventilated by a quiet small fan. The
vented gas could even be used to force a draught in a small heater /
cooker burning say, a firelog? A side of methane with that barbeque
lighter, sir?

Could dried feces and wax or other food waste such as tallow and
castoff paper, wrappings, etc. be made into fire logs?

I love cheap double duty stuff. Why do we have to mix pee and poo?
Besides drowning and flushing with water, how else could one deal
with feces? Perhaps a ventilated drying cabinet, with sawdust or
charcoal?

Check out composting toilets such as airhead (www.airheadtoilet.com)
I am planning on using one of their units for my boat. Not sure about
turning the residue into firelogs, but you can always take it home for
garden fertilizer at the end of the cruise. This toilet does provide
separate paths for feces and urine so the solids can dry out much
faster.
