What year? Mid eighties versions were well built and popular boats. The
later models had a bathtub if that interests you. In my opinion if your going
to mainly use a boat for daysailing and limited cruising the 9.1 is a better
all around boat. More sail area, faster but still nice down below.

Years ago I bought a 9.1 at an auction. I was bidding against a broker who
lost. After the sale he told me that the 9.1 was more boat than I could
handle alone and he would graciously trade me even a 9.2c sitting at his
dock. I was curious and went to see it. My immediate reaction was that if I
want to relieve myself and eat, it would have been a great boat. It had a
huge head and the galley was better, but it was not for me. I did some
research at the time and found out that Leon Slikkers had sold Slickcraft to
AMF and was subject to a non-compete agreement. He decided to build
sailboats and while they were very well built, he was panned for building
slow boats. He decided to build a rule beater, hence the 9.1. I sailed that
9.1 for 18 years, sold it this year at a boat show in Boston for what I paid
for it (do not discuss the economics with me; the pleasure was worth it).
Look for a 9.1 if you can find one. The 9.2 will be well built, but it is
not a fast boat.

LOL.......... Funny story. The broker knew what he was doing. As far as not
being to handle a 9.1 by yourself hey it's a 30' masthead rigged boat. It's
obvious he was just trying to scare you into giving up the boat. I sail my
very similar Express 30 all the time myself. The 9.1 is a great dual purpose
boat. Period. Oh, and they have done a great job of holding their value which
you found out.
