They don't answer the call to www.mayko.com and I've never used the program. So take this information as worth nothing, probably. |

Probably not a lot of OSS developers into boating, I don't know of any sea-navigation programs either. But there are some programs for mapping out open gateways when wardriving. An interface to the GPS data is also pretty old already in the form of gpsd. If you send me a gps I might be able to dig up more though :-) have a good search on freshmeat.net if you didn't do that already. -- vriendelijke groeten/kind regards, Jelle |

Nice to list some Java apps. The question was in regard to Linux as I recall and there are no maritime navigation software say like Maptech or Nobeltec etc.. So my answer in regard to No is so. I have looked for several years now and can say there are no Linux-based maritime navigation packages out there. Such companies as Nobeltec have stated that there is no market. Perhaps such companies that produce maritime navigation could look to Java. However as none of these companies have the interest it's unlikely to happen. Though I wish the would. For general GIS there is G.R.A.S.S. which is a full fledged GIS developed originally by the government and then taken over by various universities, but that's a lot more complicated than what you want to tackle. |
