Rick LOL. My wife reminded me last night of the date, after the local news weatherman forecast snow, then backed off, citing 4/1. They should have made the date for foolery 2/29. Having it at 4/1 makes it too frequent. And I usually get caught. But in this case the denouement is pleasing. --Vic |

The reason everybody was deceived was because your soap operatic tale of woe was so typical, so consistent and, as such, so believable. Considering your past history of victimhood, it fit the script perfectly. So, I'm not ashamed at being snookered. I do hope you didn't jinx Lydia's mother, though. Wilbur Hubbard |

We've got enough to put up with only getting a birthday every 4 years. Hoges in WA (but currently a long way from Western Australia in the Exuma Park on a ball) |

Looks like you do though. I recall you were going to meet up with some posters here. Ever happen? I looked up Exuma Park. They say it's hard to leave there. --Vic |

I was actually at college in the same group as a guy with a common 29th and didn't know until our third year, which was a Leap Year. He's only 14, though. I turned 15 this year. Yes I have caught up with a couple. I had a delightful lunch and long chat with Skip and Lydia when we were in Ft Pierce. I passed Roger several times through the Dismal Swamp and finally saw him tie up in front of the restaurant I was having lunch in in Elizabeth City. I also spent a fantastic couple of days with Larry in Charleston, eating, telling stories, listening to stories, fixing stuff. We went for a drive around Charleston in his infamous Air Force Step van, with Carol sitting on an office chair secured with a bungee cord to the side and me sitting on some speakers. What a truck! Well, we wouldn't fit in his Smart Car. We even took him to the Charleston Museum, as he'd never been! I guess you don't "tour" your own town, eh. I went down to Key West by car and had a look for others of interest on the way but I think that's all. We missed Wayne as he travelled down the Bay - damn trawlers move too quick for us. We met quite a few people from various forums or publications as we came down the ICW. We had a whale of a time in the US and now will have to wait about 5 or 6 years to get the boat home so that we can fly back. Hoges in WA |

We go from here to Bermuda and then the Azores/Portugal. (we'll probably go home for medical checks etc from Lagos) From there around the Med and the Black Sea / Danube for a couple of years and spit out at the end again and go north to Uk/Ireland. If we don't mind the cold, we might go to the Baltic but to me that's more of a quick train trip with woolly jumpers and Ugg boots on. Somehow we have to work out whether we want to go through France by canal boat or just park somewhere and cycle around a bit. Unknown. Same for Northern Spain, although there's good surf there so that'll hook me for some time. Then down to Cape Verde and back across to the Caribbean Through the canal and into the big wide Pacific and wander across to the far side of Australia. Unless we don't go down and leave the boat up in Indo or similar. Might take 5? Not sure. As long as our health holds up we'll keep wandering. Open to change, as even the first year has been. We've not done things that we were sure we'd do (go to Dollyville!) and done other things we never thought we'd do (spend Christmas in Daytona) Our year in the US was magnificent - what a country!! |

Thanks. Sounds like an "exciting" itinerary. You're in for some good chow, among other things. Good luck and fair winds! --Vic ps. I haven't even seen mention of your boat here, but maybe I missed it. Do you post any place where we can stay in touch with your travels? |
