Hi!

My name is Carolyn Shearlock and I’m a former cruiser and owner of Que
Tal, a Tayana 37. With my husband, I spent 6 years living aboard full
time while cruising the Pacific coast of Mexico, the Sea of Cortez and
Central America.

I’ve just begun a new website – TheBoatGalley.com – devoted to galley
tips and solving common problems faced by cruising cooks, based on my
own experiences while cruising. The website contains in-depth
articles featuring practical galley tips, insights and equipment
recommendations. It’s totally free and there are several new articles
each week.

Now I'm trying to let cruisers know about this resource -- I hope you
find it useful!

Hello Carolyn:

Your website is visually appealing and organized well.

After a very brief look I did not notice any section/part/heading
reading galley safety. Specifically fire safety. I may have missed
that. I know I have missed the content of another post recently :)

Id recommend adding information needed to avoid burning your boat to
the water line.
For example, placement of fire extinguishers: have them accessible
DURING a fire, type of extinguishers, where to put the propane on/off
switch. Most people put the switch next to the stove for convenience
but what happens when that grease fire blocks the shut off switch? How
about older propane stove types that don’t have a thermocouple and
will release gas when there is no flame and a knob gets accidentally
turned releasing propane. Then of course there are all the diesel
tricks as in flooded fuel pot etc etc.

Do you have a fire blanket?

A galley is simply not a kitchen on a boat. Neither are the safety
issues.

Jesus H on a stick, you're insufferable.

Why do you criticize my post?

I did as she asked. I reviewed. She hoped that I find it useful. I
did. I also found it lacking any information regarding how to use a
galley safely. I thought It would be a benifical addition to her
website. I was polite :)

So quickly you are to criticize my friend.

Hi Bob!

Thanks for looking at the site -- yes I plan to add sections on both
safety and provisioning, with numerous articles in each. I'm adding 3
or 4 articles most weeks and there are lots of topics to cover!

I've saved your note as a reminder of some of the safety topics to
cover -- I've got lists going with lots of article ideas.

Thanks!

Carolyn
