Ultra Sonics in keeping a clean bottom

I see lots of claims. Does anybody have any experience with this? Does it work? What about any downsides to this?

From the various adverts and reports I've read apparently it has an
effect on critters but not on slime and seaweed. Most of the write-ups
use many words like "usually", "depending upon" and various other
mealy-mouth terms to indicate that they really, really do not to make
a firm statement, but from several "how to do it" instructions
apparently the area kept clean is limited to an area surrounding the
transmitter and this area varies depending hull material, structure,
phase of the moon and I don't know what all.

I think, if I were seriously researching the idea, the first thing I'd
want to know is "is anyone commercial, or Naval shipping using the
scheme?"

Cheers,

Bruce
