Typhoons are in the Pacific; they're called hurricanes in the Atlantic.

But seriously, right now we have the first time in history that two
hurricanes this strong are active at the same time. And this is on the
heels of a Cat 4 that made it further north than almost any other.
We've now had 4 Cat 4 storms in 20 days, a record.

And now at mid-Sept we've had 11 named storms when the average at this
point is 6. Only 4 years have been this active. A total of 5
hurricanes, when the average is 3.5.

Sorry none have made landfall yet, but that was not predicted.

On the other had, this is the second summer in a row that we've been
"chased" by a potentially nasty hurricane, but in the end, the big storm
of both summers were Nor'Easters.

On the other hand, there was no hurricane in New England as there was
in 1938.....
