I am considering Lazy jacks for my 28' S2. Specifically, Iam
considering E-Z Jacks because they can be moved out of the way when
raising the sail and do not require sail cover mods. However, I have
a bimini that is very close to the boom that might interfere with
pulling the lazy jacks into position.
So, does anybody have experience with the EZ jacks. Do you have the
cockpit deployed version or the version you have to go to the mast?

Easy and a lot cheaper to make your own. Google up some instructions
and go for it.

I've built boats (4), built campers, built every imaginable kind of
scientific equipment, rebuilt engines, rebuilt electron microscopes,
etc, etc, etc. I just want something out of the box this time where i
do not have to ponder it for hours thinking of a better way to make it
work.
The Sailcare system is a lot cheaper than the EZJacks system, why?

Not directly OT, but I have the Dutchman on my Sabre. I recommend it for a
couple of reasons, but there are some negatives. The pluses are that you
don't need control lines (no moving parts). You can flake the main quite a
bit off the wind, with one or two flicks of the sail either from the
mast/deck area or the cockpit if you can reach your sail, and it adds very
little if any weight. The negatives are that you have to modify your sail
with cringles for the lines, if you accidentally grab one of the alignment
lines, it will likely break (this won't prevent you from lowering the sail,
but then you'll have to replace it - it's 60lb fishing line, basically),
sort of a negative - it doesn't perfectly flake the sail (but even LJs don't
do that) and you have to "train" the sail to flake (which takes a few
outings), and you'll need to modify your sail cover.

I've used both, I like both for different reasons, but I elected to go with
the Dutchman.
