I'm not a beer drinker so I can't comment on Chiang Beer's quality but
when it was introduced it was sold at about half the price of the
other two Thai beers - Singha and Amarit. It is now, I believe, the
largest selling beer in Thailand, and still cheap, although no longer
the cheapest.

It is lone thing to "rough it" for a long week end or a two week
vacation but give some thought to setting off around the world where
you will be living on your boat for the next 3 or 4 years.
A cold beer IS nice to have.
