: http://maggiesfarm.anotherdotcom.com...video-of-1929- Around-Cape-Horn-under-sail.html Simply amazing. Can you imagine trying to keep and operate a 1929 MOVIE camera on a ship like that always wet from stem to stern? Just the survival of the old nitrate film at sea is a whole story in itself! -- ----- Larry You can tell there's very intelligent life in the Universe because none of them have ever tried to contact us..... |

Unfortunately I only got 12 minutes in when I just stopped, so I'm downloading it to watch another time. The commentary is very dry, but the scenes speak for themselves. I like the part where he jokes about the 4 prop kicking up such a wake,,,that and when he climbs down the edge of the sail and forestay. the fellow defined the term "Deck Ape". Joe |

Joe Climbing down the edge of the sail was pretty amazing. All you could do is pinch the edge. No way to actually grab the sail. That's got to be plain old (superhuman) hand strength! I've passed it on to all my sailing friends. I think I'll even post it on Sailing Anarchy tonight. (and they think their guys are tough!) Thanks again. Real good share. |
